Fire Safety Animation ~
Research:
In this we notice that this video is appropriate or children, which is my aim for this project. This is seen by the appearance of the characters and the colours used bring the child attention especially how this animation is very cartoon like this means I have to incorporate this into my own animation.
In this we notice that this video is appropriate for children, as th4e characters are made with bright colours and bold outlines, which give this a cartoon, feel.
In this animation you can also see how a second character is used in the video that is not particularly an adult that allows children to be able to be intrigued in the video rather than having them watch an educational video that will bore them. This is something that I’m going to use in my animation so that the animation teaches children the danger of fire in a fun and slightly educational way.
This animation is very effective at creating an educational fire safety animation as it shows clearly what is good or bad, it also contains some humour which is a great way to catch a persons attention. The one thing that I would change about this specific animation is that some of the humour that is used , specifically a couple of the words would not be suitable to childeren to watch.
Original idea:

My idea consisted of a cat being the main character so that children are easily attracted to carbonised character, I have decided to include a second character being a devil and an angel which will allow the children to understand and take part in the animation more. To make this an educational but still fun video the cat follows the ball and ends getting tangled in cables making the candle on wooden table fall resulting in the kitchen catching fire. The cat in shock stands still and cries so that the children do understand to stay away from fire which is then even more taken to consideration as the next scene involves the words "stay away from fire" so that children understand clearer as what the message of the animation is.
During this I have experimented with flash and focused on two different ways of being able to animate such as rotoscoping and then animating by drawing each frame by hand or creating a motion tween as shown in the quick animations above, the hand animation has been drawn by rotoscoping a hand movement that was filmed where as the bouncing ball has been made by first creating a motion tween and then by drawing each frame on its own using the onion ski tool so that I can create the illusion of movement.

Evaluation:
I think my animation does explain my idea very well an does seem to appeal to children like the videos that I found while researching I also tried to in corporate a second character which in this case is his conscience of the devil and the angel. I think that his is a nice way of teaching children what is appropriate when around fire as the idea of the animation was supposed to be about fire safety. The cat later decides to follow the devils idea and chases the ball causing the candle to drop and start a fire, when the cat notices he sits in for not knowing what to do and cries. To make this animation even clearer the last scene contains a few words so children understand the purpose of the video. What I could improve on s making the video play slightly slower so children could process what is going on in the animation easier, also if I included speech bubbles or voice into the video so that the main thought is clear throughout the video.
