Unit 2 - Villian

Proportional skull drawing:

In this exercise we practised how to draw proportional skulls accuratly at different angles. The exercise consited of only 10 minutes on each angle of the skull making us draw and look at the picture at the same time so that we have an understanding of the proporton of a skull. By doing this we learned how to incorporate this theory into drawing people so that the drawing comes out looking realstic and proportional.

Proportional drawing of a friend:

This exercise was done so that we can use our proportional skull and muscle drawings to draw a portrait of a friend. we did each drawing for 10 minutes and focused on the key aspects to the face. We did that for two profiles and then annotated what went well and what could be improved.

By doing this we practised how to draw proportional faces and also how to draw key aspects of the face such as the nose and mouth.

Muscles:

in this section we learnt all the diferent types of muscles that could be needed to construct a simple face and we coloured them in on a person so that we can understand clearly where they are and what they are used for.

This can be very useful so that we know how to draw proportional people by using the idea of muscle formations and how they work mixed in with the proportion drawing of the skull.

SCULPTING MY VILLAIN:

Kuga de Monga:

My development

At this stage I added more detail such as the basic form of the eyes, nose and mouth so that I have more of an understanding towards my character I used different techniques in mudbox to create different forms within the face. I found this face to still lack enough detail to portray my initial character therefore I continued to subdivide so that I can create more and more finer detail within the face before I decide to texture it.

At first I decided to create a symmetrical face structure which follows the correct bone and muscle structure. In this particular design I wanted my villain to look very well built and look somewhat angry to pursue the typical idea of a villain, from this stage I decided to subdivide and add a lot more detail into my character to create more of a personality.

This was the final stage where I finished adding all the detail I wished to have, here I added small detail and improvements to make my character look realistic. Once completed I decided to go ahead and texture my character.

This is my completed character. To create this I textured my villain by finding an image from the internet that fit my character well so that I made him look far more realistic than I could ever have done by just painting my villain. In the end I went over and re sculptured some of the features to fit the projection of my image and finally I went ahead and darkened or highlighted some of the key areas to create depth within my villain.

Trials:

This was my first idea that I started but I thought that this wasnt the correct design as it lacked detail, because of his very simplistic face my villian lacked depth and I didnt think it shows my full potential at this time and day. I also found that the eyes looked very unrealistic and somewhat looked out of proportion.

Lore: Kuga de Monga

Orcs we supposedly created once daedric Prince Fiskinter and his army of the undead that took over the kingdom of Faeriebell, because of this the last living faerie Listia cursed the land of Shattermill and mutated every human being that wondered its land causing them to become fearsome with their berserker rage. These orcs trained to fight with their heavy and well developed armour and ranges of personalised weapons to fit their unique style. Orcs arnt very different from humans infact their rather similar , just as you'd expect from mutated humans.

Kuga de Monga is yet to become the leader of their tribe, being the eldest son he's yet to learn the skills needed to persue his revenge on the one he hated most, the ones who murdered his family. Kuga de Monga is one of the few surviving orcs out there in the wild ,feasting on any living animal they can catch to regain their strenght and energy to conquer the one they want, with high hopes of saving the ones that may still be alive, but he has no time, days have passed and his wounds are yet to heal but giving up isnt an option. He gathers every last bit of strenght he has to go on the journey to the forsaken land, to kill.

Gathering all the resources he could find that was left from his burnt and falling apart land, he gathered just enough to equipt him and his other 4 survivors and off they went. To kill.

Sketches:

These sketches represent ideas of orcs and what their body and armour would look like I also focused on different types of drawing such as the face profile and the full body shot so that we can clearly understand my character. I also included a very simple sketch of the body language my character has such as the way he walks this is here so that we can have a detailed understanding of my charcter and how he fits his purpose and how i got to the making of my charcter.

Final Character

To create my final charcter I used all kinds of techniques and textures in musbox so that i can create this chracter.

I think it is a success as it portrays my desired charcter very well and fits in with my lore and sketches. I also think that this is a succesfull project as my fial design looks very realistic and contains alot of fine detail.

V&A Museum Visit

During this visit we went to the V&A museum to draw different aspects of the human body proportionally and realistic. This was done by firstly finding two different torsos and looking at it closely to draw an accurate replica of the statue. we then looked for two heads to also draw a very proportiaonal and accurate drawing which is based of the original. This was done so that we can understand how the buscle and bone construct the human body so that we can incorporate this in our work and also be able to draw at an accurate level while trying to make the huma body as realistic as possible.
